Research Analyst David Sichinava, Ph.D., primarily focuses on Langer Research Associates’ international projects, with a strong focus on data quality assurance and survey methodology.
Sichinava joined Langer Research after a decade at the Caucasus Research Resource Centers, Georgia, where he held the position of research director. He spearheaded CRRC’s transition to CAPI and CATI modes, initiated its quarterly omnibus survey and served as lead investigator for the biennial Caucasus Barometer survey in Armenia and Georgia. Sichinava also managed CRRC’s international portfolio, overseeing surveys in the South Caucasus, Central Asia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.
Sichinava served as an assistant professor of human geography at Tbilisi State University and currently is an adjunct research professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. At TSU, he taught graduate-level classes in research methods and R programming; at Carleton, he leads classes on the politics of the Caucasus region and urban development in post-Soviet Eurasia.
Sichinava’s work has been published in academic journals as well as regional and international news outlets. He is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research and associate editor of the Communist and Post-Communist Studies journal (University of California Press).
